rising star from uttrakhand

as they say that people always worship the rising sun and it holds very true. so like most of the uttrakhandis, i am also jumping the bandwagon of "i like manish pandey" ones. to be frank, i really like the guy, first his surname sounds exactly like me, secondly he is an underdog who has come up really good amongst heavyweights.

as indians we do really waste lot of time talking about cricket and movies. cricket is being one of the main culprits of incurring loss of productivity in the country. i remember the semi final between india and pakistan in south africa, when india did manage to beat pakistan. but the point is when i watching that match in my office building in the crowded city of mumbai and i peeped out and there was not a single human being. so thats the craze of the cricket in my beloved country.

yeah, i was not supporting bangalore at all, but when i started watching bangalore's match against deccan and i saw this guy batting. first, i thought that he might be someone like t suman, who can play 2-3 shots and then perish. we had quite a few players like that eg sunny sohal, naman ojha, asnodkar, abhi nayyar etc. i am no cricket expert but i can see one thing that mr pandey can play big innings and that too under pressure. i have played few sports in my life and as a sportsman the biggest thing is to hold your nerves and perform at bigger stages. brian lara could not sleep all night before the night he broke sir gary sobers record, same thing happened with sehwag when he was on 300 something and had the chance to break to lara's record next day, but excitement got big on him and next day he could not last long on the crease.

as in cricket, there is no guarantee that early performances will guarantee the future success as it happened with hirwani and kambli in particular. but there was tendulkar as well, who performed from the first day of his cricketing career till date. what i have seen of pandey is that he is young and can play long innings, hence he does have the quality. he is the new star from the uttrakhand and the one to be proud of. lets all wish him good luck for his future.

  1. Good luck to him! His first five to seven years are crucial. He must care and bother for his focus, concentration and his devotion & dedication to the Cricket which has finally brought him on the surface.

One can see many similarities between Sachin Tendulkar and Manish Pandey, considering the type and nature of batting/cricket they started at a typical stage of their life, at an early age.

There are more similarities between the two, and with changing formats, trends and nature of Cricket in India and Internationally, he would need to work hard and hard, at the same time we can not deny Sachin Tendulkar had some privileges and luck as well...

Pandey should see just Army in Cricket without Glamour. Heartiest wishes to this young and budding man from Nainital, the Manish Pandey!
