What a humdinger!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of the Nadal fan after his defeat said that French open is over for me, I had the same feeling today when Roger was being outplayed by sensational Juan Del Porto for the first three sets. Although Federer managed to win the second set but Del Porto was playing superb till then, serving superbly and hitting super forehand shots.




Here, singing Roger's praises will not be justified as the opponent also played tremendously good and provided one of the toughest semi finals of Roger's carrer. Many people might be hearing his name just recently but Del Porto has been on the tennis scene for more than a year now and has a phenomeonal rise to his career. In the year 2008, he won 4 ATP titles in a row and having a run of unbeaten matches as a teenager only second to Rafa. He is one of the few players to beat Rafa recently which will count as some achievement as Rafa is playing his best tennis at the moment.



In today's match, Federer was on the mark at the start, stretching Del Potro on his first 2 serves to break points but such was the determination and the firepower of Del Potro that he saved all those points and broke back Federer to claim the first set in a dominating fashion. In second set as well, Del Potro continued his ferocious serve and forehands and gave Federer no chance till the tie break. This is the reason that Federer is a true genius and the greatest player to play in the open era. Federer has an awesome record in tie breakers and when the set went to tie break, Del Potro might have had that feeling that it is going to be all square. Cashing on few minor mistakes and putting him under pressure Federer just sneaked through in the second set.








Third set was again a show piece of Del Potro's brutal power on the court. He nullified all Federer's tactics. Few weeks ago in Madrid, Federer has beaten Del Potro in an one sided match owed to the fact that he kept playing him drop shots and lobs and did not let him play from the baseline. Quite apparently, Del Potro was well prepared today and did not show any signs of nervousness as well.



As Federer has done it again and again, coming back from the match points and 2 sets down and winning in the tie breakers. It was looking very bleak till now and Del Potro was cruising, only thing against Del Potro was that this was first semi final. Federer started to return Del Potro's serve better and took his first 2 serves to deuces. Then on his third serve on deuce Federer played an amazing drop shot to earn a break point and managed to break him for the first time in the match after 2 and half hours. Well, if one has to beat player like Rafa and Federer, you need to close on like Soderling did with Nadal. Federer started getting his first serve in and kept Del Porto hitting on his back hand. It was all square after 4th set and Federer has gathered the momentum to reach to his 4th successive French open final.




One can gauge the superiority of Federer in the Teniss world from the fact that he has won 13 slams, 20 slam semi finals, and 38 slam appearances, which is phenomeonal. In the end, Del Potro has let it slipped and Federer upped his game, when it needed the most.

There is no Rafa to beat him this year, thus he is going to be the favourite to win this year.
