Hats off to Roddick!!!
Wow, what a match. Another sensational final at All England Championship. Roddick played fantastic and just got broken once in the whole match and that was the last game of the championshiop.
Roddick surprised lots of pundits of the game when he reached the finals beating favourite Murray. Surely, Stefanik has given lots of belief to Roddick, his serve has suddenly become the most potent weapon of his game. I remember him playing Fed in last 2 finals of Wimbledon and Federer beating him in 4 sets after the initial hiccups. Today was different Roddick's serve was unplayable today,it wasn's even easy to get a point on Roddick's serve.
Roddick took the first set against all the odds by breaking Fed's serve. By second set Federer, took the set to tie break as he does most of the time. He has a tremendous record in tie breakers . He holds a 19-4 record in tie breakers in grand slam finals. I think it is just like the mental tenacity of Fed to overcome tense situations and crucial points. In the second set Roddick had 4 set points but it was to the fighting instincts of Fed that he came back and took the set away from Roddick. It was the same story in the third set and Federer just played to his strength and closed the set in the tie break. In the fourth Roddick came back well and broke Roger again to go one break up and took it easily.
The game was so close that after 260 points they both have won 130 points each. It seems that Andy would have defeated anyone other than Roger. He was just unplayable, like his match against Murray. Only thing what went against Andy is Roger's ability to come triumph in tie breaks and his ability to play 5 sets and winning them.
I have never watched fifth set like this ever in my life. Usually players crumble under pressure but Roddick kept playing well and at 10-10, he came very close to breaking Roger. At that time Andy was just blasting his serves and winning without dropping any points. Finally, it was too much for Roddick to keep playing on and on. He played for more than 4 hours and kept serving brilliantly throughout but in the end he succumbed, giving the no 15 th to greatest of all time Roger Federer......
