Well, very few would have predicted this fairy tale but mercurial Pakistanis are world champion and no one deserved this more than them. Congratulations to Younis and his team.
I wrote in my earlier blog that Australia will loose and it will be a mistake to count them as favourites, South Africa were amongst favourites but this history of being chokers is very difficult for them to past by. The pressure is so much on them that they won all their matches albeit the most crucial one ie. semifinal against Pakistan. Sri Lanka would have struggled more had Dilshan not been baling them out, like he did in most of the matches. But in the end law of averages took over. Coming back to India, I feel that Dhoni should had shown more faith in Yusuf Pathan and should had opened with him. Finally, it is proven once again that in t20 world cup it is better to be fresh rather overly prepared. Pakistan played only 2 matches prior to the world cup and managed to put everything behind them. It is heartening to see that despite of so many problems they pulled it off. Hats off to Afridi who in a way reflects the true nature of Pakistani team. They are one of the most talented sides but does not know what consistency means.
